2019 Rules Posted

The IRWCC active membership voted on three rule changes this past year, all of which passed and have been incorporated into the rules.  Here is a summary of the changes:

  1. Secondary ships are allowed in fleet battles for captains whose primary ship sinks in the first sortie.  This rule change should allow more pond time and more use of secondary ships that typically stayed on the bench
  2. Increased convoy ship points – should make convoy battles more meaningful in the outcome of Nationals
  3. Clarify two classes of cruisers that were built before international standards for defining heavy vs light cruisers existed

The updates rules are posted on the rules page

Winter Build Season Underway

With colder weather, the 2018 battle season has wrapped up, and the build season is well underway.  Many captains are building new ships to see if they can turn the tide at nationals next year.  The Annual Ballot has been distributed on the Yahoo list, and votes will be tallied in the beginning of December.  In the northeast, a squadron of French Courbet class ships are under development, ready to make the French Navy Great Again!  What’s in your shipyard?  Time spent in the shipyard now reaps benefits on the pond next season!

2018 Nats – Axis Rule the Seas!

The 2018 Nationals were held in July 2018 in Lancing, TN.  Over 40 captains battled it out on the high seas, at one of the largest events in recent history.  The smaller Axis force swept the fleet battles, almost doubling the Allied Scores.  The Allies won both Campaign battles, but it was not enough to turn the tide.  See the scores page for the score sheet.  A good time was had by all!

NATS 2018 – Sign up today!

The 2018 Nationals event will be held in Lancing, Tennessee from July 8th through July 13th at one of our member’s family property.

This site is centrally located between our common battle sites in order to allow for maximum attendance from our membership.  We expect captains from Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia, New York as well as many locations in between, and this should be one of the largest national events the club as seen in recent years.

Final details for the event pricing are still being ironed out, but you can sign up here to let us know if you plan to attend!

NATS 2017 – Axis hold on for victory!

The 2017 Nationals event was held in Saranac, MI in July 2017.  29 captains slugged it out in very fierce battling all week long.

The sides were 17 Allied captains verse 12 Axis captains, but the Axis jumped out to an early lead with crushing defeats of the Allied team in both battles on Monday.  The Allied ships experienced a number of mechanical failures, and were unable to adequately concentrate fire on the smaller Axis fleet.  The Axis extended their lead Tuesday morning, but the Allies rallied back and captured their first victory on Tuesday afternoon.  On Wednesday during night battle the Axis seemed unaffected by the darkness and effectively landed shots on the Allied boats, while the Allies concentrated on shooting the water around the Axis boats.  Thursday and Friday saw minor Allied victories in each battle, however they were not able to close the gap to catch the Axis.  Here are the scores throughout the week:

Battle Axis Allied Leader Overall Point Differential
Monday AM    21,420  12,800 Axis                  8,620
Monday PM    16,920    8,330 Axis                17,210
Tuesday AM    13,770    8,720 Axis                22,260
Tuesday PM      7,960  12,610 Axis                17,610
Wed Night      5,920    1,680 Axis                21,850
Thursday AM    15,110  20,730 Axis                16,230
Thursday PM    12,660  16,460 Axis                12,430
Friday    12,240  15,430 Axis                  9,240
Total  106,000  96,760 Axis                  9,240

Overall it was a very successful event, with all participants having a good time.
